I know I said I would post daily, but when you’re out until 10 pm two days in a row, recovering from a bad cold, and jet lagged as hell, it gets HARD. Plus, the hotel WiFi is slower than when I drag my butt to Hedrick Study at 1 am during finals week (for the non-UCLA people reading this, that’s REALLY slow).
Jumping right into it, Day 1 included a tour of the university campus. And while the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine/上海中醫藥大學 (SHUTCM) is much flatter than UCLA, dear Lord, it is also much prettier. I’m sorry, but I want a cool river going through my campus. Fun fact! All the streets in the university are named after famous Chinese doctors. Since we’re located in a high tech area (the region is literally called “Hua Tuo High Tech Garden”), the streets outside the university are also named after famous Chinese scientists.

SHUTCM also has a really cool garden. Yes, we have our own botanical garden, but I just wanted an excuse to show off this picture I took (#nofilter; I’m not advanced enough to edit my photos).

After our lovely SHUTCM tour, some of us went into the city to buy Metro cards, which somehow ended up with us going into the city. Specifically, we went Nanjing Road. It’s a huge shopping street, but it’s super fancy. Like, at this point, it’s surpassed bougie; I literally feel like I can’t afford a majority of the stores here. But it was a nice experience! We ate dinner at in some food alleyway (not as shady as it sounds, I promise), and then walked to the riverfront and basically had a whole photoshoot. NGL, some gram-worthy photos were taken. FYI, they’re not going up on here because they’re going up on the gram 😉

Overall, we ended up walking so much, I actually was out here earning TWO new FitBit badges for steps taken in a day. You girl out here legit walked 26,223 steps and 11.12 miles. BRUH. Anyways, not sure how to end this, but that’s about it for Day 1! 再見~
